University of Nottingham choose Pro/ENGINEER from Optima

The University of Nottingham has chosen a 5 year commitment to Pro/ENGINEER in the form of PTC University Plus Site licence from Optima, which means over 1,200 students will be taught Pro/ENGINEER until 2013. Simon Harrison, Course Director said “The driving factor was that Pro/ENGINEER provides a complete suite of concept to manufacture, enabling Product Design and Mechanical Engineering Students to utilise one tool that is considered best in class. This, combined with the fact that Pro/ENGINEER is used in a wide range of companies varying from SME’s to blue chip multi-nationals, giving students the widest choice of career opportunities after graduation. In addition PTC’s commitment to education with free training for lecturers and now free software for students is the icing on the cake.”
“We chose to partner Optima because as well as their commitment to education and expertise in PTC’s products they also use the software on a daily basis for real life design work meaning they can support us to the high level we expect” Simon Harrison also added. The University of Nottingham is one of the premier Universities in the UK. It’s history dates back to 1881, achieving Royal Charter in 1948. Recent developments have been even more ambitious, with an overseas campus opened in Malaysia in 1999 and the more recent launch of The University of Nottingham in China. Both locations have new purpose-built campuses under development.
