Eventa – The World’s First All-Plastic Stadium Seat System
Radar approached Optima to assist them in designing the world’s first all-plastic stadium seat system for PEL. The design is a highly robust, engineered product, pushing the boundaries of moulding technology to produce a durable, stylish and above all safe product – fit for the exacting demands of 21st century sports-stadia.
Optima used advanced CAD and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to halve the proposed development schedule from 18 months to 9, saving both time and cost and reducing uncertainty by providing crucial analytical data prior to prototyping.
As proof of the validity of this ordered approach, the Eventa system is now installed in the new Wembley Stadium, Lord’s Cricket Ground and Sheffield Arena.

The seat can also be seen every Saturday morning on the Luther Blissett stand of Soccer AM, Sky TV’s weekly football programme.
Utilisation of advanced computer simulation and a wealth of experience in plastic design-for-manufacture, helped Optima meet the extensive demands of the project and deliver a cost effective, and crucially first-to-market product solution.
According to Russell Plant, Director of Radar:
”Creating a winning product to a tight timeline requires a very close collaboration between engineering resources and designers. However, our clients often wish to use their own engineering resources, which can slow down the progress considerably. On this occasion, Radar brought in Optima Design Services because it wanted to guarantee that the pressed project time-scale would be met and that the engineering side of the project would be in the hands of experts. At their first meeting, both Radar and Optima realised that an alliance between the two companies would not only be beneficial for the Eventa project, but that a continued strategic relationship would be a winning formula for the future.”
