Pescredo® Sports International is a start-up company looking to design and manufacture a unique product for the ‘health, fitness and sports performance market. James Barry MD of Pescredo approached Optima to develop the Plantar Deck, a revolutionary machine aimed at the strength, development and rehabilitation of the foot. Sports equipment design is something that we have been involved in on a few occasions including football boot stud design.
The initial brief was to generate a series of renderings based upon existing 2D concepts and an existing prototype, taking into account manufacturing techniques. James was so pleased with the work that we also reviewed the concept design of the foot manipulation mechanism. Using the analysis tools available within our suite of software we defined a new mechanism that ensures the machine will deliver the full range of exercises.
The next stage of the design is to make a second prototype and aim to go to manufacturing as soon as possible.
