We have expanded our product design portfolio to include app development for mobile devices and tablets. These will predominantly be iOS but also android development skills will be desirable. Due to the exceptional demand we are looking to expand our team to deliver both internal and external projects.

The successful candidate will have a real passion for application development and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the core fundamentals behind Object Orientated Design, utilising technologies such as XCode, Objective C, Cocoa Touch.  Java and Unity3D would be an advantage.

Working from our Mansfield office you will be expected to design, develop and support apps/games and ideally be able to discuss these with clients.

This is a great opportunity to join a small team with plans of expansion to be creative and innovative within the apps market.

Skill Set – Essential

• 2 years iPhone / iOS Development Experience
• A portfolio of completed work.
• At least 2 apps live on the app store.
• Willing to learn new technologies, programming languages.
• Excellent development skills with good knowledge of OOP concepts.
• Experience defining and working with algorithms and data structures.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written English.
• Degree in computer science or similar

Skill Set – Desirable

• Android  / Windows Phone 7+ / Blackberry Development Experience
• Java and Unity3D

Amazing!! – When I lost my Korg chromatic tuner I was so p****d off, so I tried about honestly 8 different ones but they had several issues for instance not picking up on the low d and a strings.So I typed in iPod touch guitar tuners and google and found a video on it.Going in I already had the mindset like it was not going to work but it did and it is amazing, spread the word!

Serves it’s purpose well – As mentioned by it’s name, it serves it’s purpose very well. If I find any requirements, and if suggestions can be accepted here, I’ll review again with the requirements in it. At the most, I’d like the required frequency for the string and different tuning options also added to the app. Thanks a million

About the best you’ll get for free. – This is a very good tuner for free. I have a digital tuner, I turned it on and had it next to my phone when tuning my guitar. The “needles” gave pretty much the same readings. The needle on the app is a bit more “twitchy” and it’s not quite as easy to use as the real thing. But it’s free and always in your pocket. What more do you want?Well worth downloading in my opinion.

You will be responsible for the delivery of design projects for a wide range of customers. The work can vary from concept generation through to FEA on many different product ranges. Optima undertake work with many different clients in a variety of fields. The primary role will be as a good problem solver who pays attention to detail.

For the position of Design Engineer you must have have

• 3 years Pro/ENGINEER experience
• experience of surfacing within Pro/ENGINEER
• a degree level qualification in a relevant discipline

Preferably

• experience of using FEA (specifically Mechanica)
• experience within a consultancy environment

For the position of Product/Industrial Designer you must have have

• 3 years Pro/ENGINEER experience
• experience of surfacing within Pro/ENGINEER
• a degree level qualification in a relevant discipline
• a track record of innovative solutions taken from concept up to manufacture

Preferably

• experience of creating graphics and images
• experience within a consultancy environment

Both roles are suited to someone who likes to get involved in all aspects of design from concept through to manufacture. As a client facing position the position requires a confident person with good listening and communication attributes.

You will be based at our Mansfield office but will be expected to travel occasionally throughout the UK and overseas. Occasionally contracts are carried out at customer sites across the UK and overseas.The package will include a basic + pension negotiable based upon experience.
