Vivid Laminating Technologies, a Midlands-based company providing printing and laminating solutions since 1986, was developing a new machine that combined printing, cutting, and laminating functions. The new system was based on the chassis of an existing production machine, but the goal was to create a product that stood out in terms of design and user appeal.
Optima were engaged to produce concepts that would give the machine a distinctive look and feel, differentiating it from competitors while remaining feasible for manufacturing.
Designing for Impact and Manufacturability
Building on the current chassis, our team developed a series of 3D models and visual concepts that balanced aesthetics with production realities. Surface finishes, panel shapes, and component layouts were carefully considered to ensure the design could be efficiently manufactured without compromising the machine’s structural integrity.
Visualising the Future Product
High-quality visuals were created to communicate the machine’s new design language to stakeholders and guide the development team. These visuals highlighted key differentiators, such as ergonomics, user accessibility, and a modern, professional appearance suitable for commercial environments.
The Razar Printing and Folding Machine demonstrates how thoughtful design concepts can elevate an existing platform, ensuring both functional excellence and visual appeal.
