Stanley Maxfinish.

DIY tool design for Stanley Tools.

Background.

Stanley, one of the world’s largest tool manufacturer and security companies, asked Optima to help it design an innovative paint pad design. The resulting MaxFinish system features a unique clip-off pad release and reload mechanism for mess-free painting. The pad is designed to be similar in use to a traditional roller, employing an articulating head, which can be fixed at any angle through a unique adjustment mechanism.

Approach.

As part of the development process Optima undertook FEA to understand the flexibility of the pad and determine the most cost effective rib structure to provide the relevant stiffness whilst keeping material costs to a minimum.

Optima developed the design from art-to-part in only six weeks.
