South Yorkshire based ASP approached Optima to design a drain stopper that was quicker, safer and more convenient than the old fashioned wing-nut drain stoppers.
Optima developed a patented cam operated device that is easy to install and can be retrieved without the use of a tool. This means that the operator doesn’t have to enter a manhole and manoeuvre to retrieve the Camstopper manually allowing it to be used easily in confined spaces.
The process included complex mechanism design, FEA analysis and multiple prototypes to prove concept and to ensure long-term service suitability. The product was successfully launched and set new standards in serviceability, safety and speed within the industry.
