Beverage brand Schweppes approached Optima with a brief for a new sustainable bottle design. From first principles, the design team had re-use firmly in mind.
The form was tailored around the internal laser scanning process that determines whether the bottle should be re-used or recycled. Optima carefully balanced the aesthetic qualities of the product with the functional requirements of the recycling process to produce a highly stylish yet cost effective modern interpretation.
Following the launch, the bottle design was announced joint Grand-Prix winner and category winner of non-alcoholic beverages at the Shine Awards, an annual awards ceremony recognising innovation in the highly competitive glass packaging market.
